„Hotel & Guesthouse Raudaskrida was easily our favorite accommodation in Iceland, and we traveled around the entire country. It is situated in a beautiful, quiet area. It does feel out in the middle of nowhere, but we liked it that way! The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was great and we loved the heated towel rack! They also have two geothermal hot tubs that we soaked in with a beautiful view of the sunset.
We were really hoping to see the Northern Lights while we were in Iceland and asked one of the workers if she knew when we could see them. She checked the forecast and told us it was low for that night. We went to bed and were startled by a knock on our door. The owner knew that we were looking forward to see the lights and woke us up to make sure we didn’t miss them! They were incredible. I loved the jam that they served at breakfast, and the owner gave me some for free. Great staff, beautiful place.“

More on the food; It was so good I may have to rank the dinners I had here as my top favorite meals I have ever had in my life (and trust me I am an international foody). Harald goes above and beyond more than any other organizer of birding and wildlife ecotours that I have experienced. Harald made sure I was getting everything I wanted and was just always working hard to fulfill my goals. I am already hoping to come back to Iceland with my fiancé in the not too distant future to try for the northern lights, and I know we will stay the whole time at Hotel Raudaskrida!“
„I went on a short birding trip based at this wonderful hotel in northern Iceland, and had a glorious time! The hotel is indeed in the middle of nowhere (on road 85 somewhat near Husavik), but the amenities, and especially the restaurant, are very up-town. My room was comfortable and quiet, and had a gorgeous view out over the valley toward the snowy hills on the other side. The staff, headed up by owner Harald, treated everyone like personal friends. The food was a major surprise – think France instead of Norway! And a tiny glass of the Icelandic drink called Black Death was just the thing after a long day out. On top of everything, the wifi was excellent. I hope that I can return one day. I could not be more positive about my experience here.“
